EZCaption XP is easy to use.

You can load and caption standard Microsoft Word documents, or use the powerful word processor that is integrated with EZCaption XP to produce your scripts.

In a typical configuration:

• The computer running EZCaption XP is connected via a serial cable to the RS-232 port on your Closed Caption encoder.
• You have a video source (tape, DVD, NLE, etc.) with a video output. This video output is connected to the encoder's Video In.
• Many encoders (like the Link PDR-885) have a built-in decoder, which produces 'Open captions' and enables you to monitor your Closed Caption output on a standard video monitor. If your encoder does not have a built-in decoder, you will need a seperate decoder to monitor your work.
• Your encoder has a Video Output that is connected to the VTR, video server, or other video recording device.

The diagram below provides basic information on connecting your EZPrompt XP computer to your Closed Caption encoder and video playback and recording equipment. Depending on the specific makes and models of equipment you have, this diagram may or may not be accurate. For cable specifications and detailed wiring, please check with the manufacturer of the hardware you are using.

The video editing, playback and recording platforms you use are completely transparent to EZCaption XP. EZCaption XP talks only to the Closed Caption encoder. Your video platform needs to have the ability to pass the video to an encoder, where EZCaption XP inserts the CC data. The encoder then passes the video signal to your recording device.
